The mountain environment, the rustic conditions of the chalet and the installations, the maintenance work on the mountain pastures give each young person the conditions to find a new impulse, to cut themselves off from their habits, to bring out their own resources. Participants in the Alpine pasture programme are aged between 13 and 19 years old. They are socially disrupted, placed by the courts or institutions, and come to serve a sentence or to start a process of social, professional or training integration.
Through an approach tailored to each individual, Alpage provides a framework, trains the fundamentals of living in a small group and “taking care of oneself” in a family atmosphere. Shepherd’s work, respect for rules, respect for others, solidarity and mutual aid, movement and perseverance form the basis on which each person is encouraged to build his or her possibilities.
